The speed and cost of a computer depends to a large extent on the memory or RAM which the computer or laptop has. If a computer is slow a lot of time is wasted waiting. How much memory does the computer or laptop which members use have ?

My dear old Toshibas have 6 GIGAs (and a dedicated graphics card). Despite these features that should be averagely good, the Windows10 one (the other turned into a Linuxian notebook) is terribly slow cause it lacks the SSD. Lately, it's the SSD, above the memory, to determine the speed rate. In fact, my newest VAIO netbooks (one of them is another Linuxian device), owning a SSD, are very fast despite the memory of 4 GIGAs and no dedicated graphic card (I couldn't afford a superior device). I still own 2 very, very old netbooks, respectively purchased in 2010 or 2011 and 2012. The oldest one is a Seashell Asus, having a memory of 2 GIGAs, but it's not so slow cause it passed through a maintenance and the technician installed Windows8.1 on this netbook. Windows 8 and 8.1 are light, compared to Windows10 and 11. The one purchased in 2012 has only 1 GIGA of memory and its slowness is terrible...

My laptop has a 4 gig ram and it really concerns me to expand it. Modern day tasks that we use computers for require 8 gig RAM at the least.
I'd also like to expand the memory of my VAIOs, as they own a capacity until 16 GIGAs. But these netbooks are very strongly sealed, so I'm afraid they end up breaking down.
