How to deal with a stalker ?

What is the best way to deal with a stalker other than filing a police complaint. The stalker is always trying to meet in the evening despite telling him to deal only in the morning?

I think it would be better you don't walk alone, then you could use things like pepper spray on them when they try to get close even after reporting them to the police.
