How to lighten scars?

I have scars from when my dog was a puppy and scratched me. No matter how much I have tried to lighten them with whitening soaps, nothing seems to work. I even used a scar ointment, but that did not help either. If you have dealt with scars, how did you manage to reduce their appearance? Any tips? Thank you

The scars remain scars. They will not disappear unless do a plastic surgery by an expert surgeon. The original shape and form of the skin was deformed and cannot be restored.
