I find that the old desktop and laptop which I have are extremely slow compared to the new desktop I purchased last year. Since I do not enjoy working on slow computers, is there any reliable method to measure computer speed.

How to measure the speed of a computer?

I think that you should look at the specs of the RAM and processor to determine how much the speed of a computer would be.
Use Speecy program, free version. It will show your temperature on computer. If processor or hard drive is to warm, it can slow your computer. Average computer speed does not exist.
The basic thing to do is to upgrade the RAM and the speed would increase dramatically.
I believe you need to install some kinf of program and do it that way
