I used the company laptop to code a software in my break time. My boss lays claim to ownership of the software.

If a person working for a tech company uses the company laptop to code a software during his break time at work, who has full ownership of the software coded?

Is it remotely possible that the company can lay claim to ownership?

It is dicey. Doing it during break time makes it seem like it is the employee's own but the company laptop is what makes it seem like it is the company's own.

At the end of the day you did use the company laptop, which means they can easily claim ownership cause you use their tools
