Two of the Taliban's top officials are sought by the International Criminal Court on charges of persecuting women and girls in Afghanistan.
The Hague-based court stated that there were "reasonable grounds" to conclude that the abuse of women and girls since attaining charge in 2021 by Supreme Leader Haibatullah Akhundzada and Chief Justice Abdul Hakim Haqqani created a crime against humanity.
They have since put into effect a number of limitations, such as prohibiting girls older than 12 from attending school and preventing women from working in numerous occupations.
