According to the report, Lebanese media and Kan broadcaster reported that officials from the toppled Syrian regime, including Bashar al-Assad’s family, fled to Lebanon with Hezbollah's help.
The report said that Ali Mamlouk, former director of Syria’s National Security Bureau, crossed the border before Assad’s fall and is wanted for his involvement in political assassinations. The officials were smuggled into Beirut and are believed to have sought refuge in Dahiyeh, a Hezbollah stronghold.
The report also stated that Syrian rebels vowed to pursue war criminals involved in torture, revealing the discovery of 40 bodies showing signs of torture near Damascus. The Pentagon confirmed that US strikes on ISIS targets in Syria were possible after Russian forces withdrew.
The report added that Syria’s ambassador to the UN stated the country is entering a new era of freedom and democracy, while the OPCW called for securing chemical weapons stockpiles.
