From the Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines report, an estimated PHP2.7 million worth of suspected shabu was seized by joint law enforcers early Friday morning in Iligan City.
In a report, operatives of the Police's Drug Enforcement Unit also apprehended a suspect, identified only as "Moks," in a buy-bust operation at around 8 a.m. in Purok 13A, Barangay Pala-o. The illegal drugs, believed to be shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride), weighed about 400 grams. The suspect's common-law wife was also taken into custody.
The report also stated that the first arrest in August was part of a recent anti-drug operation in Northern Mindanao. On July 30, authorities seized PHP1.4 million worth of shabu in Villanueva town, Misamis Oriental. Brig. Gen. Rolindo Suguilon, director of the Police Regional Office in Northern Mindanao (PRO-10), said the anti-illegal drugs campaign remains a top priority in law enforcement.
Meanwhile, Alex Tablate, director of the regional Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA-10), said dismantling drug dens will be one of the objectives during the remainder of this year.
