Traceability is about tracking the stages of a product’s life cycle which is from the raw material stage till last shipping. Tracing products make the work easier to detect defects. You would make analyses, and find the remedies for the problems. So business owners need to do product tracing all the time.

Traceability is indispensable in any business. You will be able to locate the source and activity of your merchandise. Furthermore, many sectors must follow tight laws and regulations, and traceability can aid with corrective measures, among other things.

Nowadays business owners don't look into the durability of a product as they are eager to increase their sale. Durable products decreases sale.

One major importance of traceability is that it creates a sense of trust and transparency. Customers and final consumers will have more trust for your brand.

It is not necessary for the company owner to check and track products alone, on a larger business scale there is always a delegation of authority which can be handled by the production manager, usually control is carried out in several processes such as product processing, finished products, packaging and shipping.

I think we call them quality control people. They assess everything and check the processes documenting everything to be sure it is at par with best practices.

In general, in a company, the production manager has several sections/divisions such as the production division, quality control, post-production, etc. so that product quality and production costs are also the responsibility of the production manager.
