Three Indian Navy Ships ( INS) arrived in Manila on Sunday for a three-day goodwill visit and to participate in a Maritime Partnership Exercise with the Philippine Navy.
The INS Delhi, a guided missile destroyer; INS Shakti Fleet Tanker; and INS Kiltan, an SW corvette, docked at Berth 1 of Pier 15 at the South Harbor in Port Area.
All three ships are part of the Indian Navy's Eastern Fleet based at Visakhapatnam in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.
According to the report, Rear Adm. Rajesh Dhankhar, commanding flag officer of the Eastern Fleet, said personnel from the Indian and Philippine navies will engage in a wide range of "professional interactions.
Further, the admiral said that the interaction is aimed at further strengthening the existing cooperation and understanding between the two navies.
The two nations share common interests, particularly in maintaining peace and order in the Indo-Pacific region," Dhankhar said. The MPX is a multilateral event conducted by the Indian Navy in which naval forces of foreign countries participate.
