Last year, I found that my mailing address was not correct in government records and got it corrected after a lot of effort. This year again a major insurance company has updated its records and government records incorrectly and is refusing to correct the address records despite visiting the office repeatedly, providing passport as valid id proof, for almost two months now. What could be the reason why the insurance company is refusing to correct its records, when the customer is providing valid id proof?

There could be several reasons why the insurance company is refusing to correct your address even after you have provided valid identification. One possible reason is bureaucratic inefficiency or internal miscommunication between departments. Sometimes, customer service representatives may not have the authority to update certain sensitive records, requiring approval from higher management, which delays the process. Another possibility is that their system might rely on government databases for automatic verification, and if there is any mismatch or delay in syncing those records, updates get rejected automatically.
It could also be that the company has rigid compliance policies that require multiple forms of verification, such as utility bills or proof of residence, beyond what they publicly communicate. In such cases, escalating the matter in writing, contacting the company’s grievance officer, or filing a complaint with the insurance regulatory body may be the most effective next step to ensure your request is handled properly.

The insurance company incorrectly updated the government records, changing the mailing address and is now refusing to correct it, despite visiting the office repeatedly, and showing the staff the passport as proof of mailing address. Now the income tax and other government departments are relying on the goa address data which the insurance company incorrectly used and refuses to correct.
