Is it right that a staff agitates for a higher pay because a colleague in the same role in the organization is paid higher?

If the staff of a business organization agitates for a higher pay simply because the other staff in the same role is paid higher, is it a bad move on the part of the staff? Isn't he supposed to be paid same pay with a colleague with similar job role and description?

Good question, what a dilemma! Because how do you know your colleague doesn't have more seniority and earned that higher-than-average salary through years of effort and loyalty? It's quite a dilemma, but I understand the person who protests because it's definitely assumed that the salary is the same for everyone, that no one earns more than anyone else in the same job, but anyway, you never know.

I don't think the staff does any wrong in asking for the same salary as the colleague. The management must sit down with him to iron things.

I suppose it is human nature to compare and demand. They can approach the Union if there is one and ask them to take up the matter

I must say this, equity does not apply in business. Moving around with the dilusion that everyone must be paid equally is wrong. No matter the role, you must consider the years the person haa worked there and the level of experience. Also, the qualifications matter as much as the expertise.
