Even though we strive to manage our finances wisely and live frugally, often when we open our budget or monthly expense records, we find that our debit balance doesn't match our expectations. After investigating, we discovered a significant amount of invisible spending, which is small, frequent, unrecorded, and unplanned expenses, yet at the end of the month, it often has a significant impact on our financial situation. Invisible spending also often results in insufficient monthly budgets to cover our needs, or we often run out of money before the month ends.

Some examples of invisible spending include: subscription fees we rarely use, tips to the office staff, buying snacks, treating friends, hanging out at cafes, donations, etc.
