Is it upsetting to you when someone you know takes something without your consent?

There are persons who can take your belongings without your consent, and many people live with relatives or just acquaintances. Is it anything that really irritates you? If so, how do you try to explain to them why it's wrong, and do they end up doing it anyway?

Yes it is, especially when it is something of value. And I think it is a little bit disrespectful when people do this.
