Whenever a computer starts to slow down, the big question arises: should you upgrade some components or simply invest in a new machine? Many users don't know that, in most cases, a strategic upgrade can extend the lifespan of a computer by several years. Swapping a hard drive for an SSD, adding more RAM, or replacing a graphics card can make a big difference in performance without spending a lot of money. However, hardware compatibility and the limitations imposed by older motherboards must be taken into account. If the processor no longer supports the latest software versions or if the ports are too outdated, it may be time to upgrade to a new PC. Ultimately, the decision depends on your use and how much you value the balance between cost and performance.

I’ve been through the same thing before, and it’s true—when a computer starts to lag, the question of whether to upgrade or buy a new one arises. I’ve also found that swapping out an HDD for an SSD or adding RAM can make a big difference without a huge cost.

But not every computer can be easily upgraded. An old motherboard can be a stumbling block, especially if it doesn’t support new software or has outdated connections. That’s when buying a new computer makes more sense.

I think it depends on several factors, if upgrading is cheaper and your laptop can handle the upgrade then i don't see a reason to buy a new one. But in a situation where upgrading is equal to buying a new one that is of the same standard you want to upgrade to or even higher, it's better to buy a new one
