Well, it can be hard, especially if you do not have a niche. Identify your niche first before you do anything else. I consider the freelancing services I offer as my online business and I find it hard at times, especially when I do not get a lot of tasks from my employer. No tasks, no pay.
It depends on the person who are trying to run an online business and based on the business time, some online business high risk and it is hard to get profti from it, adn some business needs some skills and knowledge and experience to get profit. but all will be learned and get better at it.
Sometimes online business can become a hard business, yes it's true because if you start doing business online you can find it difficult sometimes before having profit.

It depends on the business you are engaged with online. If selling one is your business, there are strategies you will apply to make it easier and if writing articles is your business, it is somewhat hard if you are not used to writing. There is no easy job online if the internet is also slow.
Anything business is hard whether online or offline. You need to learn the ropes to gets it right.
Online business is getting very competitive. A lot of people now prefer online shopping. You need to find the right product or a niche to stand out.
