Disclaimer: The intent of this thread is not to bash religious institutions or the likes.

I live in a religious country and it seems like the religious sector is now considered a business. You would hear people say that they are working on building their religious institutions, that the institution would start paying them and they would profit from it.

Can one really view religious institutions and approach them as businesses with profitability as a main goal.

Religion has always been a business right from the start. If you see a way to monetize from religious activities, please do. It is not an easy thing to get to the point that it would start paying you but like every other business, you have to be resilient and build it.

Unfortunately in today's world everything turns to business. As long as the main teachings are not compromised, I don't see an issue with making some money. Not like the leaders get rich anyway.
The leaders actually make mad money and get rich from the proceeds of their religious services. It is still okay though as they have to survive but having to cloak it is what I don't like.

Religious institutions where not really ment to be businesses, but on fortunately, a lot of people have turned it into this. I can't really say much about this though cause it mains me when I see certain things people do.

I have stopped going to church because the pastors couldn't even hide it again. They were doing it barefaced and it became obvious that they were all about the money.
Yes, the church leaders now are very bold and asking for money as open as they can. People just want to make money at all front.

Only very few religious institutions have stuck to the true essence which religious institutions were known for and they are less than 1% of the entire spread of religious institutions.
It's a pity things have turned out like this, especially when I see how most of these institutions act.

I must say that this kind of activity is found only or mostly in christendom. I doubt if this business of a thing is found in Islam. Moreover, we Christians contributes to it by giving our money without thinking. Now, you can buy holy water, handkerchief, stickers and do uncountable donations.

In my country, religious institutions are considered as social institutions so they are not profit-oriented. Religious institutions will get funding from donations from individuals or corporate institutions and membership fees (if any). Social institutions are charged lower electricity and water rates than the general public.

Religious institutions do more business than even commercial institutions these days. I think religion should b fully viewed as commercial enterprises by government.
