For anyone unfamiliar, PageSpeed Score is a number (from 0 to 100) that shows how fast your website loads, especially on mobile (based on tests from tools like Google PageSpeed Insights).

But here’s the question, how much does it really matter now? Some say it’s important for SEO and user retention, while others think it’s just a number that doesn’t always match what users actually feel when using the site.

Yes it is important for SEO because google often favours a fast loading page more, and it is also great for user experience.
No one search in information in search engines like in the past.

It is. It has a direct approach and influence on your search rankings. A slow loading site won't rank high on the search engines. If they can't crawl your site nor reach it, they won't index you.
