It's not like they are not popular, over here the white ones or yellow ones are more common, but it's a seasonal food so it is only sold in certain seasons and not everyone consumes it.

I seldom see white and yellow eggplants here . The usual color is violet. I think the white and yellow colored eggplants are poisonous. There is none like them sold here.
