A scanner is a device that is used to capture physical documents and create a digital version of them. It seems the scanner is no more useful with powerful smartphone cameras?

Is the scanner now an outdated peripheral?

People are using their phone cameras to make digital copies of their documents. People don't even need a scanner that much again.

Yes, we might be able to use our smartphones as scanners. I think I have used a scanner app before to scan some documents, and it was a really good app.

Owning a scanner doesn't make any sense nowadays. It obviously has no use when smartphones have specialized apps that can scan very well.
