Yes i believe there is, there are people who are into love scams, especially on most on those dating sites. I have heard about lots of cases like this.

When the internet was not widely used, many were lured by love syndicates. Many were victimized. My friend's friend committed suicide when the guy he met on the dating site asked for $2000, which she gave to the guy, but he never showed up on the web after receiving the money.
