Is there a standalone WhatsApp app for PC?

I am yet to see WhatsApp app for either Windows or Mac. The only way that I find to access WhatsApp through PC is the use of WhatsApp web? Is there a standalone WhatsApp for PC? If no, what could be the possible cause?

Yes there is a standalone app for Whatsapp you can download for both windows and Mac, i once downloaded it for my laptop, i just have to scan my code to connect the Whatsapp on my phone to the laptop.

What l have only been seeing is the WhatsApp web. However it's possible for one to connect their phones to the lap top or PC using some unique codes.

What is your definition of 'standalone"?

I only use WhatsApp Web instead of the standalone app because my netbook is too weak to support many apps. But it works well, in any way. The only mishap is the need of the mobile connected (and its battery charged) simultaneously.
