According to the report, Israeli authorities have arrested seven East Jerusalem residents on suspicion of planning attacks in Israel, as per Israeli media reports. The suspects are all aged 19 to 23, officials in the police and Shin Bet said, as per the Times of Israel.
The report said that the leader of the spy ring, a 23-year-old named Rami Alian, was recruited by an Iranian agent, the report adds. None of the suspects are said to have had any criminal or security-related record.
The report added that the alleged spy cell was active for some two years and was given various tasks, including graffiti demanding the release of hostages in Gaza. Israeli officials said that the ring members were also tasked with photographing various locations.
