According to the report, Russian and Chinese military forces have carried out a joint bomber patrol over the East China Sea and western Pacific, flying close to Japanese and South Korean air-defence zones.
The report said that two Russian Tu-95 bombers and two Chinese H-6 bombers, along with additional fighter jets and support aircraft, undertook a long-range flight, prompting both the Japan Air Self-Defense Force and the South Korea Air Force to scramble jets.
Though the aircraft did not violate national airspace, their entry into the wider air-defence zones was viewed as a show of force, heightening geopolitical tensions in the region
