Kanlaon Volcano evacuees increase to 11,564

When Kanlaon Volcano was upgraded to alert level 3, 11,564 evacuees were reported to be outside of evacuation centers. The volcano erupted on Monday, causing the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) to warn locals not to enter the 6-kilometer danger zone and to leave their houses for their own protection. Despite the warning, several residents have chosen to stay at home. Those who live within a 7-kilometer radius of Kanlaon Volcano have already received assistance in evacuating for their safety. PHIVOLCS stated that a "hazardous eruption" is predicted in the following weeks. Following the eruption on Monday, Bryll Larry Sañor from the PDDRMC Information Office of Negros Occidental said that residents had hyperventilation and respiratory issues.
