According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, Kanlaon Volcano on Negros Island has experienced five emissions and 16 earthquakes between Sunday midnight and Monday midnight. Every day, the volcano emitted a copious 4,975 tonnes of sulfur dioxide, and also produced a massive plume that soared to an impressive height of 400 meters and moved northwestward. Alert Level for the volcano has been raised to Level 3, which indicates the ongoing magmatic unrest that followed its eruption on December 9th, 2024. As a precautionary measure, flight operations near Kanlaon Volcano are strictly prohibited, and evacuation is strongly recommended.
