on September 8, 2025, in his annual official address, Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced the establishment of a national crypto reserve fund, also known as a "crypto bank," by 2026.

In addition to the crypto reserve, Kazakhstan is also preparing CryptoCity in the city of Alatau. This project is projected to be the first city in Central Asia to be fully digitized with crypto payments.

Tokayev stated that CryptoCity will combine technological advancements with the quality of life of the people. As such, Alatau is expected to become a symbol of Kazakhstan's digital transformation.
