Kimchi Premium is a term for the difference in Bitcoin/crypto prices in the global market with the market in South Korea.
On Dec 3, 2024, there was an announcement of martial law from the President of South Korea "Yoon Suk Yeol" which caused panic selling by traders and investors. So that there was a striking difference in the price of Btc, in the local South Korean stock exchange the price of Btc was $67k while the price of Bitcoin on the global market was $90k. Of course, this price difference only occurs for a short time or only a few minutes.
Kimchi Premium often occurs on the local South Korean exchange, but in general the price of Bitcoin is higher than the global market such as in 2016, 2017, 2019, 2020 and 2021.
