Larger internet companies closely monitoring online investors, workers

Large tech, internet companies do not want to take the risk of investing in research, when there is no guarantee of making money. So they are closely monitoring some online investors, workers to find new technologies, money making websites. Has any member noticed this?

I think this is normal to some extent, no one wants to invest in something they are not sure about would give them profit.
