According to a Latvian media report, Riga plans to hand over 21 vehicles confiscated from drunk drivers and other criminal cases to Ukraine, including a 22-year-old Lincoln Navigator luxury SUV.
The report stated that the Latvian Ministry of Internal Affairs has prepared a draft government decision to approve the transfer of vehicles, all of which are to support defense tasks and essential services in war-affected areas.
Based on preliminary assessments by the State Provision Agency, the vehicles, manufactured between 2000 and 2019, have a combined estimated market value of about 74,600 euros ($87,183).
The report added that specified recipients will include military units under the Ministry of Defense and the National Guard, the Kharkiv Clinical Multidisciplinary Railway Hospital, and the military administration of the Novovorontsovka settlement
Additionally, the transfer falls under a Latvian program launched in March 2023 that allows vehicles seized for serious traffic violations to be redirected to Ukraine.
