According to the report, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun ruled out normalising ties with Israel, stressing peace without formal recognition, and demanded Israel withdraw from five occupied border points. His statement followed Israeli Foreign Minister Saar’s call for normalisation and US President Trump’s push to expand the Abraham Accords. Aoun reaffirmed Lebanon’s policy of weapon control and rejection of foreign occupation.

Meanwhile, Syria began reclassifying descendants of Palestinian refugees as “foreigners,” replacing the long-used term “Syrian Palestinian,” amid broader regional tensions and unresolved post-1948 displacement issues.

How could the statement of Aoun be ruled out when there is no formal recognition? He cannot just demand Prime Minister Netanyahu.
