According to the report, on October 22, Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commander Mohammad Ali Jafari stated that Israel is unlikely to launch a significant attack against Iran, suggesting that any response from Israel may be limited and symbolic. His comments came amid reports of Israel planning retaliation for a missile strike from Iran on October 1.
The report said that Jafari emphasized that Iran's counteraction would depend on the scale of Israel's response, warning of a stronger retaliation if necessary. Meanwhile, the FBI confirmed it is investigating the leak of classified US intelligence documents regarding Israel’s military plans against Iran.
The report also states that in a separate meeting in Jerusalem, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken discussed cooperation against Iranian threats. Netanyahu highlighted the recent alleged assassination attempt on his life by Iran and Hezbollah, calling it significantly serious.
Israel's Defence Minister Yoav Gallant conveyed to Blinken that the US support during an anticipated attack on Iran would bolster regional deterrence. Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced on October 22 that neighboring countries assured Iran they would not allow their territory or airspace to be used for attacks against it.
The report added that during his regional visit, he stressed that Iran is monitoring US military bases in the area and would retaliate if Israel attacks. He also warned against strikes on Iranian nuclear sites, labeling them an international crime.
Further, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian assured that any Israeli aggression would face a proportional response and presented a national budget prioritizing defense amidst increasing regional tensions.
