According to the police report, a 59-year-old farmer died Monday after lightning allegedly struck him in Gumaca town in Quezon province, police said.
The Quezon police said in a report that “Fernando,” a barangay tanod (village watchman), was found dead at around 3:30 p.m. on a farm in Barangay Casasahan.
The police told the family members that the fatality bore signs of burns on his right arm that investigators believed were caused by lighting that eventually caused his death.
The report said there were no signs of foul play.
