According to the report, a powerful 8.8-magnitude quake off Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula triggered tsunami warnings across the Pacific. Waves hit Japan’s northern coast, prompting alerts of up to three metres. China also issued a warning forecasting coastal impact. Authorities urged caution as more dangerous waves were expected after the initial surges reached Japan.
