According to the report, typhoon Matmo intensifies as it approaches China's southern coast on October 5, prompting authorities to evacuate over 350,000 residents from Hainan and Guangdong provinces. The storm made landfall near Zhanjiang, Guangdong, with maximum sustained winds of 151 km/h (94 mph), marking it as a severe typhoon.
