According to the report, US President Donald Trump met South African President Cyril Ramaphosa at the White House on May 21, raising concerns over the alleged persecution of white farmers in South Africa. Speaking from the Oval Office, Trump said: “We have many people who feel they're being persecuted and they're coming to the United States. Generally, they're white farmers and they're fleeing South Africa, and it's a very sad thing to see.” Trump asked staff to play videos during the meeting, claiming they showed evidence of genocide.

Ramaphosa, watching in silence, later remarked: “I'd like to know where that is because this I've never seen.” He told reporters the meeting involved “really good in-depth exchanges” and denied any genocide was taking place in South Africa. Despite the tense moment, Ramaphosa said the “meeting went well” and extended an invitation to Trump to attend a G20 summit in South Africa, adding, “I expect him to be coming.”The two leaders agreed to hold further discussions on trade, industry, and critical minerals. Issues related to the International Criminal Court were not addressed in the talks.

President Trump is powerful. What he says, he will do. I doubt if Trump will go to South Africa to attend the G20 summit. He might send someone from his cabinet.
