The situation in eastern Congo is deteriorating. Local authorities say more than 400 civilians have been killed in a series of attacks by the M23 movement, which they say is backed by Rwanda. Reports indicate that 413 people, including mothers, children and young people, have been killed in gunfire, bombs and explosions between Obira and Bugubbo. In other words, the situation is getting worse and worse until it is too late.

Ceasefire signed, but fighting continues

It is noteworthy that all this comes a week after Congo and Rwanda signed a ceasefire in Washington. While the M23 was not directly involved in the agreement, Rwanda has called for support for the rebel groups and a reduction in violence. But the reality on the ground tells a different story.

M23 and the endless cycle of violence
M23 has been wreaking havoc in the region for years, and the violence seems to be returning as if it will never end. This new conflict has raised serious concerns about the humanitarian and security situation across the region. As life becomes a daily nightmare, people are calling for help and lasting solutions.
