The report said that judging by fresh satellite images, the attack on the oil depot near the city of Engels, Saratov region, Russian Federation, was significantly more effective than previously assumed. This was reported by the publication NV . The images clearly show seven fuel tanks destroyed or severely damaged in the strike, more than double the number analysts initially estimated after the June 6 attack .The first series of images, published on June 7, were hampered by thick smoke that stretched for tens of kilometers, which made it impossible to objectively assess the scale of the destruction. However, new data confirms that Ukrainian UAVs very effectively hit a critically important facility - an oil depot at the Crystal Rosrezerv enterprise. It supplies fuel to the strategically important Engels-2 airfield. This is already the third strike on this facility since the beginning of 2025. Satellite images also confirm a successful drone attack on a defense plant in the city of Cheboksary, almost 1,000 kilometers from the border with Ukraine. Despite the low resolution of the image, traces of a fire were recorded on the roof of one of the buildings. These changes become obvious when compared with archival satellite footage.
According to a statement from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, at least two strikes were carried out on the plant's territory on the night of June 9. As a result, a large-scale fire broke out. The plant plays an important role in the Russian military-industrial complex: the enterprise is engaged in the development of navigation and telecommunications equipment, including key components for UAV control systems and Iskander-M and Kalibr missiles. In addition, the plant supplies electronics for the submarine fleet and high-precision systems for energy and military needs. Production volumes at this facility increased more than 100 times in 2024. The Ukrainian Defense Forces managed to strike not only at the infrastructure supporting the Russian Aerospace Forces, but also at one of the technological cores of the Russian military industry of the aggressor country. Such operations demonstrate Kyiv's growing capabilities.
According to a Russian national: "Russia's economy is very, very bad now. We are on the brink of the abyss. Many of our industries are already in decline, such as metallurgy, mechanical engineering, and the military-industrial complex... The pitch-black night is approaching."
