From the Los Angeles report, a man allegedly killed his wife, put her body in a suitcase, took the luggage onto a train, carried it during a bike ride, and lit it on fire in a Home Depot parking lot.
According to information from the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, the 64-year-old Valentine Gutierrez was accused of murdering his wife and dismembering her body in 2018.
The report said that Gutierrez allegedly brought the suitcase and a bicycle with him as he boarded a Gold Line Metro train sometime after his wife's murder. He exited the train at Lincoln Station and carried the suitcase while riding the bike to a Home Depot,
The police officer suspected and checked the area and saw the charred body of his wife. It said that his wife lived in a homeless shelter.
In addition, Gutierrez was arrested and charged with murder and arson of property in 2018, but his case was suspended on July 17, 2025, after his lawyers raised sufficient doubt about his mental competence. His trial will resume after a mental competency hearing.
