A man is under investigation after running a marathon in Hong Kong with a baby strapped to his chest. Police received a report on Monday accusing the mainland Chinese national of child abuse for running while carrying the baby in a carrier.
Photos and social media posts showed the man at various points along Sunday’s race route, the child wearing a small jacket with a race number pinned to it.
In some of the photos, the child is seen walking away, while others show him cradled in his father’s arms. Although the man appeared to be holding the child’s neck with his hand, many social media users condemned the act as extremely dangerous.
Marathon organizers said the man was not allowed to finish the race. Once they were notified of the child accompanying him, they stopped him about 9 miles into the 26-mile race.
