According to the report, a powerful 6.1 magnitude earthquake struck off the southern coast of the Philippines on Saturday, shaking parts of Davao Occidental but causing no reported damage or casualties. No tsunami warning was issued. Just days earlier, a 6.3 magnitude quake had struck the same region. Meanwhile, Japan’s Tokara Islands have recorded 474 small quakes since June 21, with the strongest measuring 5.1. Though no major damage occurred, residents were advised to stay alert. Both nations lie on the Pacific “Ring of Fire,” known for frequent seismic activity and unpredictable tremors.
Thankfully, I am in Mindanao, but we have not felt the tremor of the quake. Magnitude 6 1 is not a joke.
