So, Mexico's been working on getting internet to everyone in the countryside, all over the country I think the best part is just getting people online. It's really cool to see the gap between those who are online and aren't is shrinking, I was not expecting them to get this done so quickly! Making it cheap enough for people to actually use is key, I think. When it's all said and done, I really think this thing will really help these towns to thrive.

I mean, think about it. Before, people in small villages might have to travel a long distance just to get online, or simply cannot stay in touch with family, to do daily tasks, or even to get information about the world outside their little area. Now, kids can do homework, and they will learn about a whole different world from the web. Farmers can check market prices, and get a bigger bang from what they sell, maybe even sell directly to consumers. Small business owners can reach customers they never could before. People can connect with loved ones more easy.

And it's not just about money, even if it's big. Education and healthcare can be better too. Online courses can reach people who otherwise wouldn't have access to good teachers. Doctors can reach patients in faraway places with telemedicine consultations. I bet it can make more informed decisions.

Of course, there are going to be things that need ironing out. Setting up the infrastructure in really remote areas can be difficult, and expensive. Making sure everyone has the digital skills to actually use internet that is being provided. Still, the idea of connecting everyone brings about a lot of things, and it's great to see Mexico taking steps to make it happen. I hope them doing this also lights a small fire for other nations to walk a similar path!
