Approximately half of Nigeria's more than 200 million people are connected to a national power system, which cannot deliver adequate daily electricity to the majority of those connected. Many poor rural settlements, such as Olodo Okin, are completely off the grid.

In a country with plenty of sunshine, many people are turning to solar energy to help fill in the gaps, but getting investors who are afraid of risk to fund large solar projects that would provide Nigeria with enough reliable energy is difficult.
