More than 1,000 victims have been identified and more than 150 people have been arrested as result of an international crackdown on human trafficking. According to Interpol, approximately 15,000 policemen from 43 nations in Europe, Asia, Africa, and South America participated in the six-day operation, which began in early June. According to Europol, it targeted organized crime groups that sell individuals, mostly minors, for forced criminality, begging, and sexual exploitation. Women are the majority of victims of sexual exploitation trafficking; they are usually lured from overseas and brought to massage parlors where they are forced into prostitution.
