Before Typhoon Kajiki arrives, Vietnam has ordered the evacuation of almost 586,000 people.
According to meteorological analysts, the storm, which is currently bringing winds of 166 km/h (103 mph), is predicted to get stronger before hitting land early on Monday.
People have been told to evacuate their homes in the central provinces of Quang Tri, Hue, Da Nang, and Thanh Hoa. Boats have been instructed to remain ashore, and flights have been canceled. The storm is avoiding Hainan, China, where the weather service warned of up to 320 mm (12.6 in) of rain.
