New Delhi,December 26, 2025: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) today took suo motu cognizance of media reports about the deplorable conditions in several night shelters in Delhi amid the severe cold wave. The commission issued notices to the Delhi Chief Secretary and the MCD Commissioner, seeking a detailed report within a week on the measures taken to ensure adequate facilities, including blankets, sanitation, and food, for the homeless.
