Neighbours robbing home using duplicate keys

In some countries, in smaller cities, towns, online investors, workers, who are not well connected are finding that their neighbours are robbing low value items from their house when they are away and displaying them prominently despite paying for security. The neighbors are using duplicate keys or picking the lock. Since the robber neigbors are robbing low value items it is not worth filing a police complaint. Has anyone else faced this problem, what can be done to prevent the robber neighbors from stealing items from your home?

No, I have never experienced it before. During our first few years in my parents' house, some robbers tried to steal some items from our house, but they did not succeed. Now, it does not happen in our subdivision anymore.

I was reading in the news about the same issue. A family went for a vacation, someone broke in their house using a duplicate key. Thanks to the cctv , the family was able to know that their neighbor is robbing their house.

It's very discouraging if you observe this in your home then I believe the right thing for such family to do is for them to handover the neighbors to the law enforcement agencies

Well there is shops where you could get dublicate keys and they don't ask from where you got it so if you steal keys you can steal the house I guess

I am grateful that it has never happened to me. But robbery do happen in my city occasionally. Other than locking the door, I've also installed a metal gate to make it more difficult for the robbers to enter my apartment.

That is theft of the highest order. I have oftenly seen that happening to most homes in the vicinity.

Instead of loving thy neighbor it's hating thy neigbor. That's so disgusting a neigbor robs you instead of protecting your things for being neighbors. It's not happening here eh.

My neighbours stole all my jewelry but I couldn't name them as I have no proof. I could know from the way their amounts of jewelry increased soon after the robbery in my house. They aren't that rich to have so much of gold.

Agree, it doesn't happen anywhere in the Philippines. Our country people is God fearing. We're also afraid of the law. It's not part of the system here robbing the neighbors.

I think that stealing from single women is a major problem all over india. I noticed that a older single woman living alone also had almost nothing in her house, everything was taken away, it is a reflection of the morals of society.

The theft was conducted once when my husband and me were away with our elder son's place and the second time once when I was already a widow in 2022. They used thieves who came in the guise of salesmen.
