Niger, Mali and Burkina fasò have pulled out of Ecowas despite repeated effort at reconciliation. The announcement of withdrawal of these three countries comes as a surprise to the West Africa economic block. The withdrawal notice came immediately after July 26, 2023 coup in Niger Republic where the military junta take hostage of the deposed president, Mohammed Bazoum.
