The Police IG has responded to a widely shared video of a Nigerian retired superintendent of police claiming he received N2 million as a benefit after 35 years of service, Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun has responded.

The officer who retired from the force on October 1, 2023, claimed in the social media video that he was recently notified by the Nigeria Police Pension Board that N3 million in retirement benefits had been approved.

According to the retired officer, the sum includes N2 million for his entire terminal benefit and N1 million in arrears for the time frame beginning in October 2023. He strongly disagreed with this and urged the IGP to look into it.
