Health officials in northern Arizona confirmed a fatal case of pneumonic plague on July 11th 2025, according to the news. Since 2007, this is the first death in the said state. Coconino County was the site of the aforementioned deadly pneumonic plague case. The identity of the person and specifics of the case were not revealed by the authorities. Pneumonic plague is a very uncommon disease that affects people. Pneumonic plague is usually found in western regions of the United States, where an average of seven cases take place every year.
